Let Others Help You Heal

It seems like for every possible thing that could be bothering us, there is a support group out there that we can seek help from. Many people laugh off these support groups or can not see themselves sharing the problems with others that they are experiencing.

A support group is a bunch of people that get together that have experienced similar experiences. They could be a weight loss group, AAA group, mothers against drunk drivers group, loss of a loved one group, and groups of a similar shared illness, etc., etc. There is just so many out there.

Why there are so many of these support groups out there? That is because over the years we have found that they really work for people. You get not only to share you story but to hear many people who have similar stories like yours. Being involved in a group can give you support, make you not feel alone, and maybe even help you find some answers that you seek.

I bet there have been many great friendships formed from support groups. What better friend then to be able to share everything and know that they are there for you and understand the things you are feeling and going through. You also get to be there for someone else and in helping to heal them, you heal yourself too.

If you want to find a support group in your area, look in the newspaper, they usually have some listing. If you don't find one there look on the Internet, like in craigs list, they have some listed there. Your church, YMCA, or local hospital should also be able to guide you.

If you are struggling with something that is bringing you down and you don't know where to turn, try to look for a support group in your area that deals in an area comparable to yours. Once you are there I know you will feel better just to know you are not alone. This might be the best thing you have ever done for yourself and you are worth it.

Are You Experiencing A Big Change In Your Life?

Are You Experiencing A Big Change In Your Life? Having any kind of change going on in your life can be so hard. I can tell you myself that change is very hard on me. It takes me having to really work on myself to get through things like that. For example, when my children were growing up everything that would be their first I panicked. Mainly it was my oldest daughter that had to endure the parent that was flipping out just because she was staying over night at someones house for the first time, etc.

With life comes many changes, work, family, relationships, and moving to a new home or different area. Everyone has to find their own way of finding comfort to make things less stressful for themselves. I had a great friend many years ago that use to do yoga and meditation and at that time we were only teenagers. I use to laugh at her but she always seemed to handle things very well. She was always so calm and didn't over react to situations. Using those skills really seemed to work for her, I wonder if she still uses them today.

I moved away from where we use to live about twenty five years ago and though we stayed in touch for a few years after, we have not spoken since. Change again that was not easy in my life. Actually, moving away was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and I think when I started to let myself feel good about it was when I took a little advice from my friend. I didn't do yoga or meditate like she did but I had to have many long chats with myself and start bringing positive thoughts in my mind.

Create Good Family Memories

The most important place you could ever put all your effort into is your family. The family unit you that you create in your home, if made strong, can help you in so many areas. Building strong ties and really knowing each other is not the same and may need less or a little more attention. Spending time to share experiences, even having a family meal can be so important.

Family meals were always a really great time at our house. My childrens friends use to love to come over and join us. You never knew what was going to come out of someone's mouth because that was our time to share or talk about whatever. Through those meals we learned a lot about each other, had a lot of laughs, and actually sometimes we were kind of sad that dinner was over. Believe me when I say that it was not always perfect but it was the best most of the time.

Today with everyone running around like they do a lot of families don't have that chance to sit and eat together. For some people it has just been a long hard day and they last thing they want is a lot of chatter. I'm asking you to give it a chance, you may find that it makes your day lighter, you will learn so much about each other, and then you can go on to your individual needs after.

Giving each other space to grow and learn is important too. Everyone needs to have a certain amount of privacy in their lives. By showing trust and respect to each other you grow closer as a family. Trust and respect, not simple words, and words that you can say need to be earned. If you start trying to promote those two words in your family from the beginning it sticks with them. Examples like, "I trust you are going to pick up your toys", or, "That was a great help", will go a long way.

Most of all there is that unconditional love that everyone needs to feel. We all need to know that no matter what we excel in or fail at that we are loved. Confidence comes from trying things and being able to move on to the next. The love from a family supports each other and gives each other that confidence.

Relationships Can Be Tough....

Relationships can be very overwhelming at times. We have all different kinds of relationships every day. We have the husband and wife relationship, the parent and child relationship, the good friends relationship, the work relationship, and it just keeps on going on from there. It takes a lot of different skills we develop through the years to be able to nurture all those relationships.

Although we try our best to build on those relationships, we some times find ourselves in impossible situations. Maybe someone is relying on you too much, causing problems that you don't know how to fix, or just totaling being someone that you just don't understand. Those people make it hard on us and then we have to find the skills that we have developed to get through these situations and still hopefully resume a healthy relationship.

Women and men handle relationships differently, where a man tends to let things go, women can not. It really doesn't matter how you approach the person in that relationship, it is the outcome. So before you react, think the whole situation through thoroughly and you may find that in that time you have found a solution for everyone. Most of all though, you have to do what is best for yourself. If the relationship you are in is something that you really want to keep because that relationship is what is best for you then you want to keep that relationship healthy. If you feel that a relationship is having very negative affects in your life then maybe it is time to let them know how you feel, that the relationship is not working for you, and move on with your life.

Joining in on those forums and getting your name out so that people will look for you and want to talk with you is a good way to start building a client list. It is always easier for the person to feel confident when you have spoken before. Often when people go into unsure areas they tend to leave without really looking at the product you are offering. Music Has Helped Me All My Llife........

I don't know about you but music has been my cure all in my life. When I'm up, down, lonely, or sad it brings me to a place where I feel safe to let my feelings show. Music can bring out so much in you if you let it, it is kind of like having a therapy session. I am open to listen to new music and still enjoy the same old songs that I always did. I even find myself listening to a old song that is so ridiculous now but it makes me laugh to listen again.

I can relate to many events in my life from different songs over the years. Proms, parties, different people I was dating, sad times in my life, my wedding, all have that song that all of a sudden will be played on the radio and that memory comes back like it was just yesterday. For the most part it is a wonderful memory and it is fun to remember how you felt and how much something meant to you.

I have my mp3 player now, downloading with my favorite songs. I love it, I can listen to just the song I want to hear and I listen to them often. Times have changed so much since playing your 45's. Speaking of 45's, I still have a whole bunch of them. To really make you laugh I have 45's, albums, 8 tracks, and a million cassette tapes. Lord, guess that tells you how old I am.

Sleepless Nights?

End those sleepless nights, enless tossing and turning - does nothing seems to work?

People do not realize the complications that can come from not having enough sleep. When you don't get enough sleep, your immune system goes down and makes your chances of catching something greater. Flu and colds are the easiest things to catch when your immune system is down. When you don't get enough sleep it can cause you to not function properly. Your body requires a certain amount of rest and sleep.

You find a lot of college students take pills or drink a lot of coffee to stay awake at night. Using these methods to stay awake makes our sleeping patterns to go off course. It effects our whole bodies because we are forcing them to function improperly. Many college students do not get enough sleep and their resistance is down then they find themselves sick or just feeling tired all the time. Taking a short nap would be better for your health then taking pills or having to much caffeine. It has been proven that after you have had multiple cups of coffee or pop that you build up a resistance and they don't help you to stay awake well any more.

Insomnia has become such a well known problem that you see that even books and movies are being made on the subject. Even songs have been written on the subject. Did you ever watch a movie called Fight Club? That movie was about a manic insomniac and got a lot of attention. When celebrities like Stephen King, Robert DeNiro, Ed Norton, and Brad Pitt are relating to the subject of insomnia we know that it is a widely heard of problem.
